Grilled Pineapple

Brush sliced pineapple rings with a small amount of olive oil. Place the rings directly on a medium-hot grill. Cook for three minutes on one side, flip and cook for three minutes on the opposite side. The grill will melt the natural sugars in the fruit, turning the pineapple into the perfect sweet dessert.

Pineapple Fruit Salad

Make your own pineapple fruit salad from two cups of pineapple, one cup each of grapes, mango and kiwi. Add one tablespoon of lime juice to keep the fruit from turning brown, and store in the refrigerator until you serve the salad. If the fruit tastes a little bitter, or isn’t as sweet as you would like, add a few teaspoons of sugar or honey.

Pineapple-Kiwi Smoothie

Freeze two cups of chopped pineapple and two cups of chopped and skinned kiwis overnight. Add the fruit to a blender with three tablespoons of honey and one cup of ice. Blend until the mixture is well combined and you don’t notice any ice chunks.

Pineapple Ice Pops

Tempt your taste buds with simple pineapple ice pops. Blend three tablespoons of honey with ¼ to 1/3 cup of milk and three cups of chopped pineapple. Pour the finished mixture in an ice pop mold. If you don’t have a mold, use a clean ice tray and place a wooden stick in the center. Freeze the pops overnight before serving.

Pineapple-Banana Smoothies

Make pineapple-banana smoothies from a few ingredients in your kitchen. Freeze one cup of pineapple chunks and one chopped banana overnight. Add the fruit to a blender with ¾ cup yogurt or milk, one tablespoon honey and one cup of ice. Depending on the size of the banana, you may need to add a touch more ice to reach the consistency that you want.

If the idea of using fresh pineapple intimidates you, you can use canned pineapple. Manufacturers harvest the fruit at the peak of its freshness, and you’ll find that the same applies to frozen pineapple. These recipes will help you eat better and add more fruit to your diet.
