Intuitive Eating: The Latest Diet That Is Here to Stay

In a world currently obsessed with low-carbohydrate diets like the Keto Diet and the Paleo Diet, it can be easy to wonder if you should be avoiding carbs too. Intuitive Eating on the other hand will beat trendy diets any day.

Carbs are the body’s primary fuel source. The glucose from carbs is transformed into the energy your brain and muscles need to function. If the body does not receive adequate carbs, it will eventually be forced to produce glucose mostly from the breakdown of proteins in the body – i.e. lean body mass. Not. Good. I made the mistake of falling for the claims these diets made, and following a low-carb diet zapped my energy, disrupted my hormones, and made exercising difficult. I also was not very fun to be around because I was usually HANGRY! So, trust me when I say that from both a health and quality-of-life perspective, life is better with carbs in it!

Now that I no longer restrict my carb intake, I like to include snacks into my day, and I’ve been loving That’s it. Fruit Bars! Learning to honor this first biological signal sets the stage for rebuilding trust with yourself and food.” That’s it. Fruit Bars don’t need to be refrigerated, so I like to keep one in my purse, in the car, or on my desk at work – because you never know when hunger will strike!
