How to Maintain Your Health Goals During the Holidays

Posted by The Conscious Cleanse on Nov 8th 2019

Hey there, we’re Jo and Jules, founders of Conscious Cleanse! The beginning of the holiday season is upon us. It’s hard to deny the excitement, but along with all the fun and festivities comes a real fear of losing track of our health goals.

We get it because we’ve been there ourselves! We also have some tried and true tips for helping you navigate any social situation while staying healthy.

When we created the Conscious Cleanse, we wanted to create a program that makes staying healthy sustainable, even through the holidays. Our cleanse is a 14-reset, followed by our sustainable 80:20 Lifestyle which allows you to maintain your vibrancy while still giving you the space to indulge in your favorite treats.

Here is a quick guide to navigating your holiday fun and staying healthy without missing out on the party.

Navigating the Holidays Consciously

Keep Up a Healthy Routine.

We know how busy the holiday season can be and how easily you can lose all those healthy habits you’ve worked hard to sustain. Make it a goal to stick with just one thing you do for your health everyday – like starting the morning with a green smoothie. Even sticking to one thing during the holiday hustle and bustle will help you get back on track faster once the season is over.

Be Prepared.

Many of you may be travelling during the holiday season, and staying healthy on the road can be tricky. Make sure to do research ahead of time about the local health food stores or restaurants, and pack healthy snacks to take with you, like That’s it. Fruit Bars or our Joy Balls, to make sure you’ll have healthy options no matter where you’re going.

Eat Consciously.

Holiday menus can be full of foods that we don’t typically eat. Try to fill your plate with veggies and healthy protein, and allow yourself to enjoy a portion of something that is indulgent. Savor each bite and remember that you don’t have to blow your health plan over one meal. Better yet, prepare one of your favorite healthy recipes, like our Autumn Wild Rice Salad, Paleo Pecan Mushroom Stuffing, or Low Sugar Cranberry Sauce to bring and share with everyone.

Avoid Added Sugars.

Find other ways to satisfy your sweet tooth besides reaching for the nearest chocolate dessert or sugary cocktail. Uplevel your holiday sweet treats with healthier options, like That’s it. Dark Chocolate Truffles or homemade Vegan Eggnog. Go for desserts sweetened naturally, like with maple syrup, honey, dates or healthy sugar-free sweeteners like Lakanto or Stevia. Make it your mission this year to bring one of our clean sweet treat recipes like Pumpkin Fudge, Raw Chocolate Pecan Pie, or Ginger Spice Cookies to share with the party.

Enjoy the Party.

Food choices can dominate your attention during the holidays but in reality, the enjoyment really comes from creating memories with others. Instead of concentrating your energy on the bar and buffet table, connect with your loved ones. Having a deep conversation or playing a fun game with family and friends can taste better than any holiday treat.

We hope you’ll use some or all of these tips to have holiday fun without compromising your health goals. Wishing you a healthy, happy, and hangover-free holiday season!

With love,

Jo & Jules
